All plants are purchased locally, the area supports a tremendous variety of nurseries and garden centres. We also know a number of private suppliers, some who have a particular interest plant and enjoy the propagation process. We like to buy locally wherever possible.

We have found composted bark to be an excellent finishing product.

Local slate is now only available as new stone. Some years ago it was quite feasible to get second-hand walling stone which was extremely attractive. However legislation has been brought into place to try and protect the old stone walls. Whilst we work around the area we see an enormous variety of wildlife in and around these walls, and it would be a terrible shame to destroy these habitats to satisfy the needs of customers. Today most stone is dressed and looks more ‘bricklike’. We do collect our own stone from time to time in order to ensure that we get what we are looking for. Large slate slabs are now almost as scarce as hen’s teeth, many have been recycled into patios and steps.
